Is AI the Real MVP in Sports Now?

Today’s edition covers AI’s impact on sports fan engagement, and a week that felt like a month. Here’s the scoop.

Hey you!

I’m excited to bring you this weeks newsletter! AI is the focus today, and trust me, it’s packed with insights you’ll want to dig into.

Today we’re covering:

  • AI’s Impact On Sports Fan Engagement

  • Key Learnings For Sports Creators/businesses

  • The Inside Scoop On One Of My Busiest Weeks

AI’s Impact on Sports Fan Engagement

First up, let’s look at some mind-blowing numbers.

The sports world is gearing up for a major tech boost, and AI is right at the center of it all.

By 2033, the AI in sports market is set to hit a jaw-dropping $36.7 billion!

We’re talking about 30% growth year over year from now until then.

This is a full-on shift in how fans experience sports.

And whilst AI has already made waves in performance analysis and even referee assistance, it’s the way it’s transforming fan engagement that really resonates with me and what we do at TDAY.

Here’s how:

Personalized Fan Experiences

AI is totally reshaping how fans connect with their favorite teams and players. We’re seeing some incredible changes:

  • Chatbots that make each interaction feel real and personalized.

  • Apps that know what fans love and serve up just the right content—whether it’s highlight reels of top players or exclusive merch recommendations.

  • VR and AR experiences that drop fans right into the action, wherever they are.

Smart Content Creation

AI’s not only making life easier for content creators, it’s making content that hooks fans and keeps them coming back.

Here’s what’s happening:

  • Highlight reels crafted around what fans want to see, capturing every must-watch moment.

  • AI-driven match reports and stat breakdowns that give fans a closer look at the game.

  • Social media content that feels like exclusive inside access.

Predictive Analytics for Fan Behavior

And here’s where it gets especially interesting…

AI’s helping teams and leagues truly understand their fans:

  • Predicting attendance and engagement levels for upcoming games.

  • Identifying what marketing approaches hit home for different fan groups.

  • Fine-tuning everything from ticket prices to what’s in stock at concessions based on fan data.

Key Learnings For Sports Creators/Businesses

So, what does this mean for the businesses and sports YouTube creators looking to boost fan engagement? A few key takeaways:

  1. Fans want experiences crafted just for them.

  2. Fan data gives you insights that make experiences unforgettable.

  3. AI-powered apps and AR/VR experiences are what fans are after.

  4. Fans love instant updates—use AI to make sure they stay engaged.

  5. From VR to interactive content, fans want to feel immersed in the game, not just watching it.

The Inside Scoop On One Of My Busiest Weeks

Alright, so let me tell you about my week…

It was one of those that leaves you feeling like you’ve crammed a month of life into a handful of days.

If you're juggling school, work, or building your own brand, you’ll want to read this.

Monday

Kicked off the week with a YouTube meeting to talk about one of our big focus areas—moving from short-form to long-form content. We got a gold nugget of insight there: apparently, "returning vs. new viewers" is now right up there with CTR and AVD as a key metric to watch. Guess I’ve got some analytics to dig into!

Tuesday

Pittsburgh day! Drove out to pitch at the 3 Rivers Venture Fair with Grant.

That was huge. I even threw up a couple of mid-form videos on LinkedIn to let people see how it went down (nothing like a little behind-the-scenes action).

Wednesday

Full-on marathon. Started the day hosting a conference for Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). Brought some of the TDAY Sports team along for their first speaking event, and honestly? They nailed it. Then we booked it back home for a Halloween Run collab with PSU REACH, PSU Barstool, and DUET.

We capped the night with our monthly TDAY Sports Town Hall, featuring Nicholas Kelland from Forever Network, who’s pretty much a wizard when it comes to media strategy.

Thursday

Spent the morning shooting UGC content for ONIT Athlete with The Family Clothesline. Then came one of the wildest parts of the week: 24 hours of non-stop basketball with Austin, Rob, and Aidan to raise $10k for Penn State THON.

We were streaming, running on fumes, and had an average of 100 people tuned in the entire time. We’re halfway to our goal—$2,500 down, and still aiming for $10k by the year’s end.

Friday

FOX Sports day! Hustled over to make content with Heisman winner Matt Leinart, working alongside Gabriel and Hannah. Shoutout to Sam and Marwan from FOX Sports for hooking us up! Major highlight of the week for sure.

Saturday

Woke up early for Big Noon and ESPN College Gameday, only to see Penn State lose by 7 (I thought they’d lose by 3, so at least I was close). After that, I accidentally passed out around 5:30 pm—one minute I was just resting my eyes, the next I was out cold.

Sunday

Woke up at 7 am after a solid 14-hour recharge. The perfect way to wrap up the week: church, brunch with the boys, some pickleball, and a trip to Vitality Wellness Club to reset (thanks, Amanda Werner!).

You might think I’d be taking it easy after all that, but nah, the grind rolls on.

Here’s what I’m walking away with this week:

Even when you’re running at full speed, take a second to notice the little wins.

Each meeting, pitch, and collaboration adds up, building something bigger than the day-to-day grind.

And honestly?

Weeks like this are the fuel that keeps the fire burning.

I hope this fires you up as much as it does for me.

Anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

Stay blessed.
